Public Holidays in September

18th September Keiroi no hi - Respect for the Aged Day in Japan.
23rd September Autumnal Equinox Day - On this day many Japanese will pay their respects to their dead ancestors by visiting the family grave.

Oedo Antique Fair at Tokyo International Forum
1st & 3rd Sunday in the month
A popular event for just about everybody. Various items are sold and you can easily pick up some nice Japanese artifacts or souvenirs for your next trip home. Free admission free 8:00 ~ 17:00
Access: 1-min walk from Yurakucho Station (Y18) on the Yurakucho line or 5-min walk from Tokyo Station (M17) on the Marunouchi line (Connected by B1 concourse).

Otsu-ki-mi - Moon Viewing - 2nd week in September (TBA)
The moon at this time of the year is beautiful and the traditional moon-viewing is still very popular amongst Japanese people. Traditionally O-dango (rice ball sweets) will be placed on a window ledge next to a vase containing autumn grass and this is where the family will gather to eat while admiring the moon. We recommend two parks for Moon Viewing.
* Mukojima Hyakkaen Participate in the tea ceremony while watching the moon.
Access: 8-min walk from Higashi-mukojima Sta. on the Tobu Isesaki Line.
* Sankeien Gardens in Yokohama is a beautiful park landscaped with trees, flowers, ponds and historic buildings.
Access: JR Negishi line to Negishi St. Then take any bus from the #1 bus stop to Honmoku bus stop. (5-min. walk from there) or 20min. by No.8 bus to Honmoku Sankeien-mae bus stop from Sakuragicho Station. (*Both parks open till 21:00, gates close 20:30)

Fukuro Festival and Tokyo Yosakoi - 1st October
Since it started in 1967 this popular festival brings exciting events over a two week period. The climax of the festival is the popular event known as Tokyo Yosakoi which is a dance competition held in the street on Sunday from 11:00 - 21:00
Access: Ikebukuro station (West exit) on the JR Yamanote line.
